Spring Farm Alpacas

Our first top bloodline Peruvian huacaya alpacas arrived in 2000. We wanted to avoid owning sheep, but needed to have our land grazed whilst seeding with wild flowers to recreate ancient type meadows. We now rotate alpacas, horses, and "keep" sheep - as part of our management plan. Since our first tentative steps, we have fallen in love with these intelligent and charming creatures. Our herd now numbers around 50 huacaya and suri alpacas, enough to offer choice but with every animal getting individual care and attention We started with little knowledge - but a great willingness to learn! We have been on training and fleece assessment courses and now pride ourselves on our handling and husbandry techniques. We offer husbandry courses and handling demonstrations to groups and on a one to one basis.
